Are you in week 14 of your pregnancy? Learn all about how the fetus develops this week, changes in your body, and pregnancy symptoms.

The fetus is now growing rapidly and has more space to move freely. It has hands and feet, and its small body is covered with fine hairs called lanugo.

Size:

The fetus is about 8.7 cm or 3.43 inches in size, from head to rump.

Weight:

Approximately 43 grams or 1.517 ounces.

Fetal development:

The fetus has grown 1–2 cm larger than the previous week and is developing quickly!

With distinct hands, feet, and all body parts formed, the fetus is now covered in fine, light hairs called lanugo, which help protect the skin and keep the fetus warm. The vocal cords are also beginning to develop.

This week, the fetus starts to swallow amniotic fluid, and thin lines that will become unique fingerprints are starting to form.

Your body:

Since the fetus is growing quickly now, it’s common to notice that your belly is expanding. The uterus is now about the size of a grapefruit.
